Luck Shouldn’t Determine My Future - Liberty Bar, San Antonio
On March 31, Families Empowered joined with members of the Texas School Choice Coalition to welcome more than 80 supporters for an evening event, focused on ways to expand education opportunity and end the waitlist in Texas.
The evening featured remarks from Christi Martin of Choose to Succeed; charter school parent Henry Gonzalez; Randan Steinhauser of the Friedman Foundation; and Families Empowered’s Founder and Executive Director, Colleen Dippel.

George W. Brackenridge Foundation Reception for Friends of Education
Families Empowered was the special guest of the George W. Brackenridge Foundation for an evening reception. With FE Board Chair Leo Linbeck III, Dippel presented “School Choice and San Antonio,” with demographic and waitlist data covering the San Antonio market.
Kids Day in the Park - Rosedale Park
The FE team met Buddy (from Dinosaur Train!) during the Kids Day in the Park event held Saturday, April 9 at Rosedale Park in San Antonio. This day featured plenty of family-friendly fun and kid-approved activities. The FE team’s booth had children learning geometric solid shapes with hands-on learning: building edible shapes with marshmallows.
