Houston ISD has released a list of their magnet programs with available seats for the 2016/2017 school year. The magnet school application process is currently in Phase 2; if you are interested in applying to one of these programs, submit your application online at hisdchoice.com.
Magnet schools are public schools which have a specific area of focus, such as math, fine arts, science or health. “Vanguard” schools are magnet programs for students who have been identified as gifted or talented. These programs are tuition-free. Houston ISD provides transportation for magnet school students.

Don’t live inside of Houston ISD boundaries? You still have a chance. Out of district applications are considered in the order in which they are received; however, out of district applications will be held until Phase 3 of the application process, which begins June 1.
